今日は久しぶりの掃除イベント。正直、開催前はちょっとドキドキしてた。「久々だし人来てくれるかな…？」って不安だったんだけど、集合場所の学校の寮の前に行ってみたら、すでにワイワイ賑わってて一気に気が楽になった。やっぱり人が集まるってそれだけで嬉しいね。
しかも今日は天気も最高。雲ひとつない青空で、掃除しながら気分もどんどん上がっていった。集まってくれたのは、日本人が何人かと、パキスタン人、それにアルゼンチン人まで。国際色豊かで、ただゴミ拾いしてるだけなのに自然と会話が弾んで、めちゃくちゃ楽しかった。
「このエリアは初めて来た！」とか「日本のこういう活動いいね！」とか、ちょっとした一言が新鮮で、掃除以上の収穫があった気がする。ゴミ袋がいっぱいになってくると「おお～！」って小さな達成感もあって、みんなでやるからこその充実感があったな。
終わった後は、来てくれた人たちとそのまま雑談タイム。そしたら突然、ジムの勧誘をしてる黒人のマッチョが3人現れて、「腕立て勝負しようぜ！」ってなったんだよね。気づいたらその場で腕立てバトル開始（笑）。みんなで数を数えながら応援して、めちゃくちゃ盛り上がった。結果は引き分けだったけど、ああいうノリって最高だわ。掃除の後にまさか筋トレで汗かくとは思わなかったけど、めっちゃいい思い出になった。
久しぶりの開催だったけど、やっぱりやって良かったって心から思う。天気も仲間も、そして偶然のハプニングも全部そろって、最高に楽しい一日になった。また次回もやるのが楽しみだ。
Today we finally had our clean-up event again after a while. Honestly, I was a bit nervous beforehand, thinking, “What if nobody shows up this time?” But as soon as I got to the meeting spot in front of the dorms, I saw people already hanging out and chatting, and the whole vibe was lively. That alone made me feel relieved and happy.
And the weather couldn’t have been better—clear skies and sunny all day. Cleaning up under that kind of weather just puts you in a good mood. We had a nice mix of people too: a few Japanese, some from Pakistan, and even someone from Argentina. It turned into a mini international gathering, and while we were picking up trash we naturally started talking. Hearing things like, “It’s my first time around this area” or “This kind of activity is really cool in Japan” made the whole thing even more fun.
As the trash bags started to fill up, we got that small sense of achievement together—simple but really satisfying. It reminded me that doing this as a group is way more rewarding than doing it alone.
After the clean-up, we were just hanging around chatting when, out of nowhere, three super jacked Black guys showed up promoting their gym. Next thing I know, we’re doing a push-up battle right there on the spot. Everyone was cheering and laughing, and honestly, it was hilarious. The match ended in a draw, but man, that was such a fun surprise. Definitely didn’t expect to be sweating from push-ups after cleaning trash, but it made the day unforgettable.
Overall, I’m so glad we brought the event back. The good weather, the people, and even those unexpected moments all came together and made it a perfect day. Can’t wait for the next one!
