日本語↓This month we returned to Circular Quay for the second time to clean up! I had visited the area a couple of weeks prior and saw that it was definitely a hot spot for rubbish. There are the fast food outlets, the tram tracks and the train station. All very close to the harbour, so it is no doubt that lots of this rubbish is entering the water. It becomes very clear when we clean up near the harbour or ocean how essential it is to raise people’s awareness around responsible disposal of waste, including cigarettes of course! It was a large group this time, with a number of teens also joining in. As a teacher myself, the importance of having people as young as possible participating is always at the forefront of my mind. Thanks to everyone who came out to work tirelessly on the gutters, planters and tram tracks to set an example for everyone around us!
今月は２回目のサーキュラーキーのお掃除を行いました！周辺にはファストフード店もトラムの線路も駅もあって、どれもハーバーのすぐ近くにありますから、たくさんのゴミが海に流れ込んでしまってもおかしくない話です。
海岸の近くで掃除すると、改めて「ゴミの正しい捨て方」について人々の意識を高めることがどれだけ大切なのかを実感します。もちろん、タバコの吸い殻も含めて！
今回は参加者も多く、10代の子たちも何人か参加してくれました。私自身も教師なので、できるだけ若いうちからこうした活動に参加することの大事さをいつも意識しています。
側溝やプランター、トラムの線路沿いで、一生懸命清掃活動をしてくれた皆さん、本当にありがとうございました！私たちの行動から、周りの人たちが見習いますように。
