日本語↓ Due to the rain, it was very touch and go this month as to whether we could go ahead with the clean up. It was sunny when I left home but raining when we reached the meeting point! But despite the weather, our regular volunteers, as well as some newcomers showed up to clean up! We started and Central and walked towards Town Hall. In 1.5 hours, I didn’t think we would make it all the way because we would have a lot of work to do, and I was right. George Street is a hotspot for all kinds of littering…And as a result, we managed to collect 25 kilograms of rubbish! I don’t think an exclamation mark is quite right, because it’s sad that so much has ended up on our streets and in our waterways as a result. But I am nevertheless proud of our team of volunteers. Thank you to all who attended! I look forward to seeing you next month again
雨の影響で、先週末の清掃活動ができるかどうか本当にギリギリまで分からない状況でした。家を出た時は晴れていたのに、集合場所に着いた時点で雨が降っていました(汗)。そしたら、また晴れになって、いつものボランティアの皆さんも初参加の方も雨天を問わず来ていただいたので、活動を実施することに！
今回はセントラル駅の始点からタウンホール方面へ向かって歩きました。1時間半で目的地に辿り着けるかなと思っていたのですが、やはり予想通り、ゴミが沢山ありすぎて、最後は色んなところを飛ばして目的地まで歩くしかありませんでした。
それでも25キロのゴミも回収できましたよ！……と言いたいところですが、この量のゴミが街や水路に流れ着いてしまっていると思うと、素直に喜べる気持ちではありませんね…
天気が曖昧でしたが、貴重な週末に時間を割いてくれたボランティアの皆さま、本当にありがとうございました！また来月お会いできるのを楽しみにしています
