This is Green bird Sri Lanka team reporting you about our second trash picking program scheduled on 24th of January, 2018.
We, all 18 members from Sputnik Sri Lanka joined for this activity. Ms. Hiranya and Ms. Nethmini, two of our junior Japanese Language teachers assisted us even while their busy schedule. All others were the Japanese language students including a Buddhist thero of Rapid- 61 class.
Religious priests are not required to engage in social activities. However the student thero was very happily engaging in the trash picking activity. He kept advising the students that, "Buddhism is all about nature. What goes in comes around. You protect the nature, then the nature protects you at all times. Love the nature, and that is what lord Buddha has taught us.."
Actually, when thinking about the religions wee see in the world, every religion teaches us to love nature, to protect the nature and to feel the nature. Nature is everything!! Nature is life!!!
After such a joyful event, we collected around 15 bags of trash in all kinds. We packed them in trash bags and dumped them to the municipal council trash dumping area.
A small treat was ready for the super team after all their hard work. They all promised that they will always stand against the environmental pollution. AND THAT'S WHAT WE NEED TO HEAR!
Thank you for Green Bird Japan for making possibilities for us to raise the awareness of environmental pollution and letting us help producing nature heroes. We will keep expanding our voluntary service looking forward for a ZERO TRASH SRI LANKA!
